Justice Juan Merchan has confirmed that President-elect Donald Trump will be sentenced on January 10 in his long-running hush-money case. He also mentioned that Trump will not face jail time or any other penalties but must be present on the hearing date, either virtually or in person. This is the first time in US history that the President-elect is going to be sentenced just 10 days before his January 20 inauguration.
What is Donald Trump’s Hush-Money Case?
Donald Trump’s hush money case involves there persons Stormy Daniels (Pornographic film actress, Adult film producer and former stripper), Michael Cohen (Donald Trump’s former lawyer), and Donald Trump (President-elect USA). This case stemmed when a $1,30,000 payment was given by Michael Cohen to keep her mouth quiet about her sexual encounter with President-elect Donald Trump.
This incident happened before his first presidential election in 2016 and in May, Jury found Donald Trump guilty of falsifying the records to mask the payments given to Stormy Daniels.
On his Truth Social account, he wrote “I never falsified business records. It is a fake, made-up charge by a corrupt judge who is just doing the work of the Biden/Harris Injustice Department, an attack on their political opponent, ME! He created a case where there was none”.
Trump has also made an argument for dismissal, that his financial and civic contributions to society are too numerous to count but that was also rejected by Judge Merchan.
Now, on Jan 10 Donald Trump has to be present in the court in a hush-money case just 10 days before his inauguration.
