Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced the selection of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award to legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty for his unforgettable contribution to Indian cinema.
This award will the presented on October 8th at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony.
PM Modi posted on X “Delighted that Shri Mithun Chakraborty Ji has been conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, recognizing his unparalleled contributions to Indian cinema. He is a cultural icon, admired across generations for his versatile performances. Congratulations and best wishes to him.”
Legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty is known for contributing greatly to 80s and 90s Indian cinema. He has given so many blockbuster movies such as Disco Dancer (1982), Mrigayaa (1977), Prem Pratigyaa (1989), Pyar Jhukta Nahin (1985), Jhallad (1995), Ghulami (1985), Agneepath (1990), and many more.

Minthu’s son Namashi told the media that he is delighted his father was selected for this great Dadasaheb Phalke award. He is a great star and citizen, and an inspiration for millions of people.
He has made his contribution in more that 350 films including Hindi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Telugu, Odia, and Tamil.
