On Milad-Un-Nabi or Prophet Mohammed’s birthday, Iran’s supreme commander Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that one couldn’t be oblivious to what is happening with the Muslims in Myanmar, Gaza, and India. He tried to portray India as an unsafe country for Muslims.
In response to his statement, the Ministry of External Affairs suddenly and sharply responded by stating that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was misinformed and his statement was unacceptable.
India has shared old ties with Iran and has always remained a partner but this statement from the supreme commander of Iran has angered Indian people. Iran is India’s major supplier of crude oil and even after the sanctions on Iran by the U.S., India has always tried to make its relationship stronger with Tehran.
This harsh and incorrect statement from Iran’s supreme commander can also impact New Delhi and Tehran’s relations in the future.
People also commented on his statement that it was politically motivated and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was trying to gain the world’s attention to war in Gaza by highlighting India for incorrect information.
