The DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization) on Sunday successfully tested the MK-II(A) Laser-DEW (Directed Energy Weapon) System which helps India master the technology of disabling drones, projectiles, and missiles.
DRDO chairman Samir V Kamat told ANI, “As far as I know, it is the United States, Russia and China that have demonstrated this Laser-DEW capability. Israel is also working on similar capabilities, I would say we are the fourth or fifth country in the world to demonstrate this system.”

The MK-II(A) Laser-DEW System has the capability to disable multiple drone attacks and can destroy enemies’ antennae and surveillance sensors. With its lightning speed, it can destroy the target in a few seconds.
DRDO also gave an idea of its running cost, they said the cost of running this system is equal to the cost of a few litres of petrol.
This cutting-edge technology will decrease the reliance on expensive ammunition and lower the risk of collateral damage.
