Bengal railway stations has played a smart move to promote thier GI-tagged products. One of the four divisions under the Eastern Railways zone, the Seldah Division has decided to promote their uniqie local products under “One Station, One Product” (OSOP) Scheme.
Under this scheme, they are going to build one GI-tagged product stall at every railway station under the Seldah Division and will sell only one GI-tagged product. For example, at Joynagar station, they are going to build a separate stall to sell Joynagar Mao, a traditional sweet made from puffed rice and jaggery. At Phulia station, they are going to setup Santipuri Saris stall. At Krishnanagar, they are going to setup traditional clay idol stalls.
Benefits of OSOP for GI-tagged Products
There are several benefits of OSAP (One Station, One Product) scheme at Bengal railway stations.

- This will promote the local products in International market.
- This will increase the demand for products at the national and international levels.
- It will increase the employments.
- It will increase the consumption of local goods.
